The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride – The Who, What & Why
On Sunday 27th September more than 30,000 gentlemen, and ladies, will be riding motorcycles in over 400 cities throughout the world. Their cause, to raise awareness and help fund the research of prostate cancer.
What was originally inspired by an image of Mad Men’s Don Draper, in which he is dressed in his finest attire upon a motorcycle, had over 20,000 people participate last year in 257 cities and raised over $1.5 million (USD) for prostate cancer research. This year they have their sites set on a figure of 3 million.
So what can you expect to see? Many monocles, jaunty trimmed moustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts and tailored suits, adorning the most dapper of gentleman, all of which are riding to their hearts content on bikes such as Café Racers, Bobbers, Classics, Flat Trackers, Scramblers and quirky, undefinable two-wheeled machines. We recommend pairing your fine gentlemanly attire with Thorogood’s Moc Toe boots in black – it’ll really give you the splendid status.
To ride is free, and all you need to do is bring your best manners, full beards and a sense of adventure. Sounds like a jolly good time, no? If this ride is something you’d be interested in getting involved with, head to www.gentlemansride.com for more information.
